The Pienaar Bros. are the greatest makers of the "western saddle," (affectionately known as the "cowboy saddle,") in Southern Africa. We can build your custom cowboy saddle whether it be for the show ring, working,

In all of Africa you couldn't find a better build Western Saddle than right here at Pienaar Bros Saddlery! You would have to travel all the way to America, and bypass the U$2 500 factory imitations to find a custom maker, only to realize that it will cost 5 times as much as ours. And Pienaar Bros saddles are the very same quality...custom made just for you.
We are very proud of the fact that we are the only saddle co. in Africa that has the know-how and the capacity to build custom saddle trees from scratch. Even in America, there are only a handful of custom tree makers, and we sure are amongst those few. This gives us dynamic knowledge about saddle fit for both the horse and rider.
All our Western Saddles are build on an authentic, reinforced laminated hardwood tree. Other saddle makers in South Africa use polyurethane, a.k.a foam to cast their saddle trees, which is known to become very brittle as it ages and they have little to no structural integrity. Polyurethane is also very unstable in warmer climates and will break down over time. The wood trees we use are hand crafted by Janneman himself. His trees have unique designs that create saddles which are very sought after in the U.S.A. We also keep in mind that the horses in Africa are built a little different, and therefore the tree is made to fit these horses.
In other words, our saddles will have a better fit than imported saddles, or even saddles built here on trees that are based on trees from the States . We are the only ones who have the knowledge and ability to build true custom trees to suit your needs. Read more about it here.
All of our saddles are build with advanced techniques. Stitching is recessed to remove any possible wear that might happen. We build them with free-swinging and pre-twisted stirrups leathers for optimal comfort. We also pre-stretch, reinforce, and temper our stirrups leathers to make sure they will remain the same length. We also outfit the stirrups leathers with quick change buckles. All hardware is very high quality and decorative--we do not use crudely made hardware like some folks do. Skirts are blocked and the seats are hand carved to make sure they will be a comfortable fit. We are also the only saddle makers here that import and use real latigo and shearling on our saddles. All of the great saddles in America come that way, and we won't give you any less. We do not take any shortcuts when it comes to building these saddles. They are truly custom, handmade saddles.

Beautiful, comfortable, functional and superior construction - What more could you ask for?
This is our Reining and Western Show Saddle. Built on our dynamic tree, this saddle will keep you in the winners circle for years to come. We can decorate these saddles any way you want. We use real, thick sterling silver trim on these saddles, not the tin foil thin stamped silver, or cast pewter you see for sale on most saddles. All silver trim is designed by us with your help if you will. It is then hand engraved--Yes, that is right, we hand engrave it! We can engrave conchos, corner plates, horn cap, stirrups and any place else that you may desire.
We use real barked tanned shearling, (not felt,) to line the skirts. This saddle has a full padded seat, smooth or nu-buck. We can decorate the saddle with stamping and carving any way you would like it to be ( see bottom of page for a few examples).
This is an overall well put together saddle with a close-contact design and offers a smooth and free ride. You will be amazed at how well your horse will perform under this saddle.

The Real Deal !
We call this Wade saddle the "real deal" because it is no imitation or wanna-be! Made popular by the fathers of Natural Horsemanship, this is the choice saddle for many horseman across the world. This saddle features our signature engraved hardware ( have a closer look here), inlaid padded seat, bucking rolls, rear cinch, rope strap, flat plate rigging, tear drop horn cap, traditional mule hide horn wrap, real shearling lined skirts, laminated wood stirrups. Since the trees are made custom, things like seat size, cantle height, fork and horn dimensions can all be specifically created to fit the customers needs. You can choose between different cantle bindings, decorating ideas, or maybe you would like to have it made as a half breed or full " ruff-out "?
This wade saddle is constructed so well, your grandchildren will be riding in it someday. We don't even have to mention the fact of how secure and comfortable this rides. This saddle is like a good bottle of wine, it only get's better with age!
